Flashback to '76

Verla M. Bush was Mason County Extension Adviser, Home Economics. She earned her B.S. from the University of Illinois in 1944. She had been a Home Economics Teacher for 8 years, and an Office Manager for 17 years before taking the position with Extension in 1969. Does anyone remember how long she stayed in Mason County?

I am sure most everyone has received the e-mail from Carol Schlitt about our next IEAFCS trip to Niagara Falls. If you did not, send a note to ieafcslife@gmail.com. You won't want to miss it!

Flashback to '76 & More

Ellen Burton was Woodford County Extension Adviser, Home Economics and had been in that position since 1970. She had a Bachelor's degree from the U of I in 1969, and a Master's from Illinois State University in 1973.

Many of us know that Ellen had a long career in Extension, and that she was a Regional Director by the time she retired. Ellen provided leadership to the state and national Extension Association of Family and Consumer Science in many ways. She also served in many capacities (including national president) of Epsilon Sigma Phi. Her leadership made a difference to many over her long and successful Extension career.

One of the more recent issues of For Your Information informs us of the passing of two former Extension Home Economists.

Dorothy Landgraf passed away on March 19th at the age of 86. She had worked in Suburban Cook County beginning in 1970.

Darlene Demaree passed away on April 2nd in Georgia. She worked for Extension in Moultrie, Schuyler, and Logan Counties beginning in 1962.

The passing of Bob Lahne on March 22nd at age 83 was also noted. He had been an Agriculture Extension Adviser with U of I Extension for over 40 years with the last 29 years in Stephenson County.

Our condolences to families and friends of these individuals.
